History of Vocal Consonante
Chamber coral group “Vocal Consonante” was created in 2000 under the conduction of Maestro Eduardo Ferraudi, and thanks to the need of a group of singers of performing a popular repertoire with both freshness and artistic rigor. Its repertoire consists mainly in argentine popular music (Folklore and Tango) and American (Latin-American, Jazz), together with the incursion in plays of the universal academic chamber repertoire.
The group has performed in several stages, such as: Sala A-B (C. C. San Martín), Salón Dorado (Municipalidad de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires), Manzana de las Luces, Convento de las Monjas Clarisas, Casa de Santiago del Estero, Salón Dorado (Municipalidad de La Plata), Concejo Deliberante (C.A.B.A.), Museo Renault, Centro Cultural Sur, among others.
It has also made artistic tours in different cities all over Argentina: Tandil, Bahía Blanca, Sierra de la Ventana, Olavarría and Azul, among others.
In December 2002, it took part in the programme “Todavía Cantamos”, organized by the Music Direction of Buenos Aires, where it performed numbers from the “Navidad Nuestra”, by Ariel Ramírez and Félix Luna, and the “Misa Criolla”, together with artists such as Jairo, Oscar Alem, Domingo Cura and the Camerata Bariloche.
In 2003 the chorus gave a series of concerts during July and August at “Un Gallo para Esculapio” (Cultural Pub) with the participation of other chorus. The concerts were performed again succesfully during 2004.
The group obtained the First Prize in the National Coral Contest of Popular Music “Venado Coral”, organized in Venado Tuerto city, , Santa Fe, in October 2004.
In December 2005 Vocal Consonante was again invited, this time as a solist choral group, to perform the “Navidad Nuestra” by Ariel Ramírez and Félix Luna, at a stage in front of the historical ¨Basilica of Our Lady of Luján¨, together with artists such as Jairo, Susana Lago, Galo García, Oscar Alem, and under the conduction of Maestro José Luis Castiñeira de Dios.
Also in 2005 the group edits its first CD.
In June 2008 it obtained the Firs Prize in its category and the highest score in the International Contest of Argentine and South American Popular Music Interpretation, in La Plata city.
The group has recently been invited to perform a concert as a Soloist Group in the 40est anniversary of the Coral Summer Meetings in Villa Gesell (February 2009).
